Description
Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide commonly studied as a selective growth hormone secretagogue in experimental research. It interacts with the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a), also referred to as the ghrelin receptor, and is used in laboratory models to examine receptor-mediated growth hormone signaling.
In preclinical studies, Ipamorelin has been shown to activate intracellular calcium signaling through G-protein–coupled pathways associated with phospholipase C activity. Research literature describes its relatively high receptor selectivity, with limited engagement of other pituitary hormone pathways when evaluated under controlled experimental conditions. This selectivity has made Ipamorelin a useful compound for studying somatotropic signaling mechanisms, pituitary receptor pharmacology, and peptide-driven regulation of growth-related biological processes.
Because of these characteristics, Ipamorelin continues to serve as a research tool in investigations focused on growth hormone axis modulation and peptide–receptor interaction dynamics.
